During certain months of the year, the lake completely dries up, leaving behind white salt layers that create a very interesting sight.

Kolossi castle

This small but strong castle was built by the Crusaders in the 13th century and was one of the centers of the Order of the Knights Hospitaller for many years. It was known not only as a military fortress but also as a winemaking center, where the famous “Commandaria” wine was produced, one of the oldest named wines in the world.
